April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July, started taking lessons on piano and guitar at seven years old. Her interest in writing songs was ignited. In April, when she was 12 years old She composed her debut single Different. She spent a lot of the time of 14 writing songs and practicing music. Then, in the following months, April began to go on trips with her dad as well as write her songs in NY as well as LA. April also began to include additional topics that were related to of her classmates who struggle with such things as social pressure and teenage suicide as depicted in the song"Take my Hand. Lockhart has become a sought-after lifestyle influencer as well as working in partnerships with clean-cut beauty brands Ilia, has built her own following. Her birth was without a left hand and that is part of her story, but this isn't the whole truth. The profile of Lockhart on Instagram does not hide her disability but doesn't concentrate solely on her disability. What message is it sending? The message? That we have many different aspects, that our identities and physical bodies aren't what they appear. Lockhart through a video message from Nashville home, states that I do not want that to be a part of me. I'm far more than just my physical self. It doesn't impact my everyday routine. I continue to do the normal things and I've adapted to my disabilities. But it's also a part of me so I think it's important to talk about. Her journey to self-acceptance will be one that lasts for a long time, and she can be a role model in this regard. However, she admits having moments that made her feel uncomfortable about her appearance and wearing clothing that showed her arms. She wears what she likes and is proud to post pictures of herself dressed in outfits she chooses on social media. Self-love, she says is a process. It's hard to say when you'll reach the end. However, that is common for anyone with doubts. I think it's vital to surround yourself people who are able to identify and feel your heart.
